Aeroclysm Warfare
1 minute read
For a world that has such a focus on movement and navigation, it seems strange that the primary method of land warfare is trench warfare. Shouldn't such things be obsolete in a world of air power?
This ignores one fundamental truth about Aethera though: control of land means control of sources of buoyancy. Between that and the sheer amount of firepower that can be brought to bear from a stable platform, control of land is in some ways even MORE vital than control of the skies.
Anti-air platforms are common. The most powerful is a cannon utilizing a slicer shell, a kind of projectile that expands into a ring of metal. With some careful aiming, its possible to take an airship and reduce it to several discrete pieces that quickly sink.
